Shoo’s Wild Forest Adventure is a Gamescom stand that drops visitors into Erf’s mischievous forest to embody Shoo and Hoomanz gameplay.
The Brief
Koffeecup asked for a blue-sky Gamescom concept that would introduce Hoomanz to press, players and partners in a way only Koffeecup could, playful, cinematic and interactive. The stand had to bring Shoo and the duality of light vs. dark to life, provide great visibility for the game, and offer distinct spaces for hands-on play, streaming, networking and giveaways, all while feeling like a coherent, story-driven experience rather than a row of demo pods.
The Idea
Shoo’s Wild Forest Adventure turns the Gamescom stand into a living slice of Erf. Instead of a traditional booth with a few demo stations, it becomes a playful “micro-park” where visitors step into Shoo’s world, discover how light and dark shape his powers, and get a feel for the game’s stealth-and-mischief loop by moving through distinct zones.
Key Zones & Experience
Erf Forest Entry
Visitors enter through a lush, forest-themed archway draped with glowing vines and day-to-night projections that subtly flick between light and shadow. A giant animatronic Hooman towers over the stand, head tracking the crowd while a spotlight sweeps the floor. Anyone “caught” in the beam is addressed with a goofy line, instantly setting up the tone: Hoomanz are noisy, clueless and very, very easy to prank.
Playing Lounge
nside, a forest-inspired lounge hosts seated PC demo stations with headsets and soft in-world ambience, designed for focused, hands-on play sessions. Nearby, standing Nintendo Switch pods with large screens invite quicker drop-in demos. Together they cater to both deep-dive players and fast-moving visitors, all wrapped in a soundscape and art direction that feels like the heart of Erf rather than a typical expo bank of screens.
Shoo Transformation Mirror
The Light & Dark Mirror lets guests become Shoo. Standing in front of a large screen, their movements drive a real-time Shoo avatar. Stepping into lit zones turns them into Light Shoo – slow, cuddly and vulnerable. Moving into shadow triggers Dark Shoo – fast, feral and frightening. It’s a playful, motion-tracked way to teach the core mechanic of the game: light exposes, darkness empowers.
VIP Streamer Lounge & Bar
Above the main floor, a VIP streamer lounge overlooks the forest, equipped with capture setups, cameras and direct feeds so creators can broadcast live Hoomanz playthroughs from the show. Next door, a relaxed drinks bar and meeting area gives Koffeecup and partners a quieter space for interviews, press beats and business conversations – still themed to Erf, but acoustically and visually set apart from the bustle below.
Gifting Station
As a finale, guests visit the Gifting Station, where a giant Erf-themed prize wheel offers a shot at exclusive merch: Light Shoo plushies, Dark Shoo pins, Hoomanz totes and other playful rewards. The spin mechanic turns the exit into one last moment of drama and delight, ensuring visitors leave with something physical – and very shareable – that ties them back to the game.
Response to the Brief
Shoo’s Wild Forest Adventure turns a Gamescom booth into a slice of Erf that’s immediately readable from the aisle, deeply interactive once you step inside, and tuned to the needs of players, streamers and partners alike. Visitors play on their platform of choice, physically embody Shoo’s dual nature, and exit with a laugh and a keepsake. For Koffeecup, it showcases Hoomanz not just as another indie title on the floor, but as a rich, character-driven world – the kind of game you don’t just demo, you step into.
